Frequently Asked Questions:

As a participating graduate, do I need a ticket?

No, graduating students do not need a ticket. However, you must be registered, bring your CUID, and arrive wearing your cap and gown on the day of the ceremony.

How do I pick up my tickets?

Once you complete your registration, you will see two options for receiving your tickets. You may either 1) print the tickets yourself to give to your guests at a later time or 2) send them electronically for your guests to print.

How do I tell my tickets apart?

Each ticket will have your name on it and what number it is out of the total requested (Example: John Smith, ticket 1 of 4). It is important that you do not duplicate any tickets as each has a unique QR code, and only the first guest arriving with a code will be allowed entry to the ceremony. Duplicated tickets will be invalid.

When will I need to give the tickets to my guests?

If you choose to print the tickets yourself, be sure to distribute them to guests prior to Commencement Day after verifying that each ticket is unique. It will be nearly impossible to navigate from the degree candidate procession area on upper campus to the guest seating area on lower campus on the day of the event.

Can I change my registration?

No, you will have only one opportunity to register and request tickets through this system. You may log in to view the information you provided after your registration is completed.

Can I get additional tickets to Commencement?

As a graduating Columbia College or undergraduate Columbia Engineering student, you will be able to request up to four (4) tickets for your guests. No exceptions in ticket allotment will be made due to the spatial and security constraints of our campus.

Will Commencement be webcast?

Yes, both University Commencement and your Class Day ceremony will be webcast live. Links to each will be provided in an upcoming GradZone newsletter.

Are tickets required for Class Day?

No, seating is unlimited at Class Day and tickets are not required for guests. Class Day is the school-specific ceremony where graduates have their names read as they process across the stage, are photographed, and receive their class pins.

How do I contact Disability Services?

University Commencement is held on Low Plaza, and the processional route for students includes stairs. Graduates who have a limited ability to walk or negotiate stairs should contact Disability Services at 212-854-2388 (Voice/TTY) or email access@columbia.edu to arrange for accessible seating by Friday, May 8.
