Countdown to Columbia (SEAS)
Student with adviser

Throughout your time at Columbia Engineering, you’ll have access to a community of advisers.

Your adviser in the Berick Center for Student Advising (CSA) will serve as your primary contact for advising and is available to offer advice, answer questions, help solve problems, connect you with resources and brainstorm about courses of study, life plans or anything else that may be on your mind. We encourage you to meet with your adviser regularly throughout your time on campus.

Once you are on campus, you will also have access to specialized advising across the University:

Meet Your CSA Adviser

Countdown to Columbia Adviser Assignment Screen

Log in to the Countdown to Columbia website for your CSA adviser assignment (look to the right on the homepage when viewing on a desktop, or scroll down to the bottom of the page on a mobile device). Click the name for a bio and contact information, including academic-year walk-in hours.

You will hear from your CSA adviser about how to set up a meeting prior to registration. Before the meeting, take a look at the available courses in the Columbia Engineering Bulletin, explore the Academic Planning Guide and fill out the included worksheet (p. 18).

Not sure what you want to take? Make a list of the areas and academic disciplines that most interest you. Most importantly, EXPLORE. College is all about discovering new ideas and trying new things. Don’t be afraid to take a course that sounds interesting, even if you aren’t sure what it will be like.
