News & Announcements

Class Registration Requirements (7/27)

Remember to submit your meningococcal meningitis vaccination decision! The University will only permit you to register for classes in Student Services Online (SSOL)once this and your MMR proof of immunity have been received.

Need Registration Help?

Please reach out to your advising dean or the adviser of the day (212-854-6378) with any last-minute questions. When you call, be ready to reference your new student checklist in SSOL.

Columbia College Transfer Move-in (9/1)

So you'll have time to make it to your first Lit Hum Class, please be settled and ready to move in by class time: 11:00 a.m. You will get your copy of Homer's Iliad when you check in (8:00-11:00 a.m.)

First Lit Hum Class (9/1)

It's a tradition for incoming Columbia College students to discuss Homer's Iliad in their first class. You'll meet in Roone Arledge Auditorium in Alfred Lerner Hall at 11:00 a.m. to officially kick off your academic journey at Columbia.

Deans' Welcome (9/1)

We invite you and your families to join Dean Valentini and Dean Boyce, administrators, faculty, and student leaders at the Deans’ Welcome, the annual event marking the beginning of your Columbia experience, on 9/1, 1:30-2:45 p.m. Light desserts and refreshments will be served.

Pack It Up!

Not sure what to pack? Bring with you, rather than ship, the items you’ll need during the first few weeks of school, and pack your belongings in trunks, suitcases, and sealed cartons for an easier move.

Shipping to Campus

Items may begin arriving on campus no sooner than two weeks before orientation and must weigh less than 50 lbs. The package center typically processes mail within 24 hours, but items may not be immediately available at times of high volume, including move-in.
