Did you know that the Berick Center for Student Advising (CSA) held over 30,000 individual one-on-one advising conversations last year? We provide an integrated advising experience for all students in Columbia College and Columbia Engineering.

We look forward to officially welcoming you to campus in the fall and accompanying you on your journey over the next four years, as you explore, discover, and change. In the meantime, I offer some advice prior to your arrival on campus.

Watch the NSOP Vlog, Episode 1: Introductions!

New school, new city, new period of your life — it all starts with the New Student Orientation Program (NSOP)!

The NSOP Committee is here to make sure you have a fantastic start to your time at Columbia. Begin getting to know their personalities by watching their first vlog episode.

University Writing, International Sections (7/11)

All students must take University Writing, but non-native English speakers may enroll in a section that includes discussion of the U.S. academic culture. If you wish to enroll, email Advising Dean Justin Snider by July 11.

Housing Occupancy Agreement (7/15)

Remember to accept your housing offer by signing the Occupancy Agreement before the July 15 deadline! Information is in your Columbia Housing assignment, which you should have received on June 30.

NSOP Registration (7/27)

You must register for NSOP by July 27. Please refer to your Columbia Housing assignment for registration details. When registering, select the two-hour block of time you plan to move into your residence hall.

Reminder: Submit your MMR Documentation (8/1)

New students must submit documentation of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) to the Columbia Health Immunization Compliance Office at least 30 days prior to your class registration date (during NSOP).

Advising Videos, Featuring Peer Advisors

You've heard from the Berick Center for Student Advising and you've read the Academic Planning Guide, but have you watched the videos? One of our peer advisers may have an answer for your remaining questions.

Columbia College Summer Reading

It is a tradition for the incoming Columbia College class to read sections of the Iliad over the summer, to be discussed in the first semester. Books are presented during NSOP, but you may begin reading now by accessing an electronic version of selected books.
