Student check-in on Sunday, August 24, takes place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. On Monday, August 25, check-in takes place from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. When registering for NSOP, you also indicated the time-block you plan to arrive. Please plan accordingly!

When you arrive, Public Safety will direct traffic to designated areas for the different residence halls. Movers and orientation staff will be available to help with unloading and will provide two large cardboard bins and dollies to assist in transporting belongings to your room.

Forgot a fan? Don’t have any hangers? Use the free shuttle bus to Bed Bath & Beyond on Sunday or Monday to buy any household goods, bedding, bathroom accessories, or electronics that you need. Plus, students get a discount with their Columbia University ID! See the NSOP schedule for times.

There will be temporary unloading areas close to the residence halls. Once your car is unloaded, you may park at nearby garage, but these will fill up quickly! See Columbia's Directions & Parking page and NYC.gov for resources.

If you previously studied Spanish or French and wish to continue your studies of either language while at Columbia, you should take an online placement exam. Note that the exam may be taken only once. Follow the link below (password is roaree1). It will take no more than 20 -25 minutes to complete.

You should have received an email from the CSA today with the name of your advising dean. In the next few days, your advising dean will also send you a personal email introducing him or herself. When you arrive on campus, you will set up a time to meet during NSOP for your first advising appointment.
