Dear Columbia Families,

Though it may have seemed like the distant future when you first helped your son or daughter move to campus, we will soon gather for Class Day and Commencement to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2014.

To help you and your family prepare for this momentous occasion, Parent and Family Programs will be in contact with you throughout the coming months. Look for the "GradZone" subject line for information related to the ceremonies, events, moving out, and preparing for life after graduation.

Commencement Housing at Columbia

Columbia Housing will offer residence hall rooms on campus for families and guests. Applications for Commencement Housing at Columbia will be available in mid-February by visiting Housing Services online.

Address Update on SSOL

Please encourage your student to log into SSOL (Student Services OnLine) to verify the accuracy of his/her mailing address and confirm that we have current family email and mailing addresses. Don't miss out on receiving any graduation information!

Class Day

Class Day is a school-specific ceremony during which individual students are recognized. As their names are read, graduates process across the stage, are photographed, and receive their class pins.

Commencement is the ceremony at which the President of the University grants degrees en masse to graduating students from Columbia's eighteen schools, colleges, and affiliated institutions.

Senior Portraits

Representatives from Prestige Portraits will be on campus from November 6–9. Portraits may also be taken in the spring semester.

Tickets: Class Day & University Commencement

Guests do not need tickets to attend Class Day, but tickets are needed for University Commencement. The University Commemcement Office is expected to release information on the number of tickets available and the distribution process later this fall, so stay tuned!
