Class Day and Commencement Instructions

Dear Columbia Families,

Today marks the end of spring 2013 final exams and the start of senior week and graduation festivities. We are excited to share in this momentous occasion with you and your student and look forward to welcoming many of you to campus next week.

Please take some time to speak with your graduating senior and confirm your plans for Class Day and Commencement. This is also a great time to confirm that your son or daughter has picked up her/his Commencement tickets and will distribute them to you and guests prior to Wednesday's Commencement ceremony.

The Empire State Building goes blue for Columbia

On Wednesday, May 22, from dusk until dawn, the spire of the Empire State Building will be lit in blue and white in honor of Columbia’s graduates.

Leave Your Bags Behind

For security reasons and to save time, we ask that everyone refrain from bringing bags to campus on Class Day and Commencement Day. Any bags or packages brought to the ceremony will be subject to search and must be kept in the owner’s possession at all times.
